Aamir Khan reminisces about Andaz Apna Apna in style

It has been 21 years since Andaz Apna Apna released, but it still holds a special place in Aamir's heart. Aamir was recently spotted wearing a Red T-shirt with Shakti Kapoor's face embossed on it.

The T-Shirt read 'Release Go Go', referring to Shakti Kapoor's character 'Crime Master Go Go' from Rajkumar Santoshi's Film Andaz Apna Apna. Aamir wore the T-Shirt revisiting the film with a touch of humor.

The film that released in April, 1994 had been shelved for nearly 3 years. Packed work schedule of the films cast led to the delay of the film.

It was Aamir who brought the cast of the film which includes Salman Khan, Karishma Kapoor, Raveena Tandon, Paresh Rawal and Shakti Kapoor together under one roof with Producer Rajkumar Santoshi.

It was then that the Andaz Apna Apna Team decided to take time off and complete shooting for the film. The film went on to being nominated in four categories at the 40th Filmfare Awards for the Best Film (Vinay Kumar Sinha), Best Director (Rajkumar Santoshi), Best Actor (Aamir Khan) and Best Comedian (Shakti Kapoor).

Over the years, Andaz Apna Apna has become a cult classic making it one of the most cherished films of Aamir Khan's career.

My character in 'Katti Batti' has been toughest: Kangana Ranaut

My character in 'Katti Batti' has been toughest: Kangana Ranaut

Kangana Ranaut says her role in forthcoming film "Katti Batti" has been the toughest she has ever portrayed so far in her career.

Interacting with the media at a promotional event, she said: "The character of Payal which I have portrayed in the film is the toughest character so far in my career. Which I'm very sure the audience will get to know once the film releases.

"There are some features in my character which have not yet been revealed in the trailer and the film's promos, as we want those hidden features only to be revealed once the film releases," Kangana said.

"I had said earlier during the release of 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns' that my character of Datto in that film was quite tough. But now, after doing the character of Payal in 'Katti Batti', I feel this character has been the toughest in my films."

Rudeshock: 'Phantom' banned in Pakistan

Rudeshock: 'Phantom' banned in Pakistan

A Pakistani court today banned the release of Bollywood movie "Phantom" in the country on a plea filed by JuD chief and Mumbai attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed against it alleging that the film, set on post-26/11 attacks, contains "filthy propaganda" against him and his outfit.

Lahore High Court judge Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan issued the order to ban the release of the Saif Ali Khan-starrer film in the theaters in Pakistan after hearing the arguments of Saeed's counsel and the government law officer.

Before issuing a short-order on the film, which was scheduled to release on August 28, the judge observed that Indian and other movies are easily available after their release and asked the government what it could do to stop it from being available in the market if a movie is banned.

"If a movie is banned in cinemas what the government could do to stop it from being available in the market in CDs", the judge asked.

In the petition filed in the High Court on August 8, Saeed's advocate A K Dogar alleged that "there is a direct threat to the life of the petitioner (Saeed) and his associates emanating from the content of the trailer of the film."

"It is obvious that dialogues coming out of the lips of the different Indian actors and actresses will poison the minds of Pakistani public and will portray Hafiz Saeed as terrorist even though JuD has not been declared as a proscribed organisation," Dogar said.

Arguing in the court, the government law officer said that since no one had sought No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the government for the release of the movie in Pakistan the petition was "useless" and should be dismissed.

"The petitioner is unnecessarily trying to involve the government," he said.

Based on crime author Hussain Zaidi's novel "Mumbai Avengers", 'Phantom' is set in the aftermath of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks and deals with global terrorism.

The Pakistan censor board had yet not cleared the film for screening in the country.

Since the government allowed exhibition of Indian films in Pakistan, the Censor Board has been careful about not allowing screening of Indian films which deal with the subject of Pakistan, terrorism and ISI.

In the past, Saif Ali Khan's 'Agent Vinod' and Salman Khan's 'Ek Tha Tiger' were also banned from being screened in cinema halls in the country although they are freely available on CDs and DVDs in Pakistan.

SRK, Alia Bhatt in Gauri Shinde's next film

SRK, Alia Bhatt in Gauri Shinde's next film

Now here's a casting coup! Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and actress Alia Bhatt will star together in `English Vinglish` -fame director Gauri Shinde's upcoming untitled film, to be produced by Karan Johar.

Karan, who will be co-producing the film under his Dharma Productions along with Shah Rukh's Red Chillies Entertainment and Hope Productions, announced the news on micro-blogging site Twitter on Wednesday.

`Red Chillies Entertainment... Dharma and Hope Productions are proud to present Gauri Shinde's next starring... SHAH RUKH KHAN and ALIA BHATT,` Karan tweeted.

Earlier this week, Shinde, wife of filmmaker R. Balki, had shared that she's ready to be back in action to work on a script, which is "almost" ready.

"Yes I am making my next film script done... well almost... going on the floors soon. Looking forward to be back in action," Shinde posted on Twitter on Monday.

Her directorial debut, the 2012 entertainer "English Vinglish", which marked the comeback of Sridevi onto the big screen, found critical acclaim as well as the audience's love for telling a poignant tale of a woman who learns English in the quest of 'fitting in' the life of her husband and children.

This will be Shah Rukh's first film with Alia, whose debut "Student Of The Year" was co-produced by the 49-year-old. It will be interesting to see the duo star together as while SRK turns 50 in November, Alia is less than half his age.

Both the actors have big films in their kitty as of now. SRK has three films -- "Raees", "Dilwale" and "Fan" -- lined up for release, and Alia, 22, has projects like `Shaandaar`, `Udta Punjab` and `Kapoor and Sons` in her kitty.

Who was the first choice to play leading role in Bajrangi Bhaijaan?

Did You Know: Who was the first choice to play leading role in Bajrangi Bhaijaan?

Superstar Salman Khan says his recent blockbuster "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" was first offered to his close friend Aamir Khan who suggested the "Dabangg" star's name.

"Bahubali" director S.S. Rajamouli's father K.V. Vijayendra Prasad wrote the initial script of "Bajrangi Bhaijaan". Salman wasn't the first one to listen to the script, rather it was Aamir.

At a special press conference on the success of "Bajrangi Bhaijaan", Salman was asked if Aamir was offered the film first.

"Yes, Aamir told me that Prasad had come to him and he sent him to me. So this is just Aamir sahab's generosity," Salman said.

Asked about Prasad's contribution to the film, Salman said: "The father of 'Bahubali' director Rajamouli wrote the subject of 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan'. So the first question we asked him was why didn't you ask your son to direct the film and why not there (south India)?

"He said that was because there was a difference in language. He said if this film has to be made, it has to be made very authentically."

Despite being from the southern film industry, Prasad is no stranger to Bollywood.

"He saw 'Ek Tha Tiger', and keeps on telling me that he wants to meet my father. Before starting any film, he would watch 'Deewaar', 'Zanjeer', 'Sholay' and only then begin the film," said Salman.

According to a report, Aamir had certain issues with Prasad's script and sought some modifications in it. However, Prasad refused to oblige.

The report said Hrithik Roshan was the next one to be approached. He liked the script but felt that it was expensive. Salman eventually heard it and instantly gave him the signing amount.

Marriage on cards for Asin

Marriage on cards for Asin
The grapevine has been abuzz about Asin's rumoured relationship with businessman Rahul Sharma culminating into a wedding announcement soon - the actress has declared that she wants to devote more time to her personal life. However, our sources suggest that the wedding will take place only in May next year.

A source says, "Buzz about Asin and Rahul seeing each other have been doing the rounds for many months now. But she did not want to go public with it. She recently dropped hints about it as she has no other work commitment after her upcoming release, 'All Is Well'. Asin and Rahul's families have also met and decided on a summer wedding, some time in May, for them."

When reports claimed that the actress is set to tie the knot with Rahul, she neither confirmed nor denied news about the impending marriage. "I am currently wrapping up all my professional commitments so that I can give more time to my personal life. I had anyway stopped signing projects two years ago," she had said.

A source close to Asin, however, rubbishes the buzz stating: "Asin is not in a hurry to get hitched anytime soon. There have been speculations about her wedding ever since she admitted that she is dating Rahul. But the wedding can happen next year or even two years later."

Asin was unavailable for comment. She was introduced to her beau by her 'Khiladi 786' co-star Akshay Kumar. Rahul is the co-founder of a mobile handset company.

Shoot for 'Azhar' takes Emraan to London

Emraan Hashmi is off to London to shoot for his forthcoming film "Azhar" in which he will reprise former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin for the silver screen.

The actor, who had trouble adapting to a chilly London, has pinned his hopes of completing the one-month long shooting schedule in balmy weather.

"The Dirty Picture" star took to micro-blogging website Twitter to talk about the London weather.

"Thankfully Mercury's rising here in London... can't handle shooting in the cold... brrrrrr... a month more to go... hope it stays that way," Emraan shared.

Directed by Tony D'Souza and produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and MSM Motion Pictures, `Azhar` is slated for worldwide release on May 13, 2016.

The film will narrate the highs and lows of Azharuddin's life as the captain of the Indian cricket team for most of the 1990s and being tainted by a match-fixing scandal in 2000, and banned for life.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court lifted the ban in 2012. The film also stars Lara Dutta, Huma Qureshi and Prachi Desai in pivotal roles.

When Sidharth Malhotra couldn't take his eyes off Kareena Kapoor

When Sidharth Malhotra couldn't take his eyes off Kareena Kapoor

Bollywood actor Sidharth Malhotra, who is awaiting the release of his movie "Brothers", wants someone to make film on actress Kareena Kapoor Khan as she is a "thoroughly entertaining" person.

Kareena has made a special appearance in song "Mera Naam Mary" in the film, which she has performed with Siddharth.

"We got along well. She is thoroughly entertaining. She loves what she does and that shows on screen. We were shooting in the night for days and she used to rehearse a lot. With every prop her team used to come and click pictures, selfie and all that," Sidharth told PTI in an interview here.

Recalling the shoot with Kareena, Sidharth who calls himself as a big fan of hers, said, "She is entertaining. I like the way she goes about her work. She used to pose with all the costumes and props. It was a great fun. I used to watch her and think someone should make a film on her."

The "Student of the Year" actor candidly said that it was difficult for him not to look at Kareena in the song.

"I am a big fan of hers. I would love to work with her in a film. I wish I had more work to do with her. Even in the song she comes to me but I don't look at her. I told our director Karan Malhotra that why am I not allowed to look at her but Karan wanted me to be the angry young man," he said.

Siddharth said it was difficult for him to take his eyes off Kareena.

"It was tough to take your eyes off her. I was not allowed to look at her. It was difficult not to be brooding, not to romance her and not to dance with her. I wanted to break into dance with her but I couldn't. I had to concentrate on my character and it is correct for my character to be like that. It goes with flow," he said.

"Brothers", the Hindi remake of Hollywood film "Warrior", stars Akshay Kumar, Jackie Shroff and Jacqueline Fernandez, apart from Sidharth. It is slated for August 14 release.

She was in the capital to walk for designer Manish Malhotra at the finale show of Amazon India Couture Week.
